It's a good movie

this is a good movie. If you're young and you want to learn how to like old fashioned cult horror movies, then start with this one or any movie made by Roger Corman. It's campy but scary, too.

it was a good movie....definetly one of the better B-movies of the 60's
here is a link if you've ever wonderd what happened to Susan Cabot..and the details of her death...the site is done in a humourous yet filled with details manner..a good site in general if you want relatively clean factoids about many celebs or high profile deaths :)

This was alright. Definetly not as good as Corman's other cheapo's but not bad either.

I think it's good on two levels.

First, it reminds me of the b/w whodunits and private detective stories that I loved watching when I was young. Among its attributes (IMO) is a serious storyline that's easy to follow and believable characters.

Second, when I showed certain scenes to my 24-yr/o daughter we shared some hearty laughs over the old costuming, make-up and effects. This year she is half my age and twice as busy which makes the rare sharings very special.

It's got suspense and the music. The questions build up like what happened to the bodies? Old man Zinthrop gives an explanation that gives one the chills. Mwahahahahahaha.

It's a good movie because the actors all perform with a great deal of sincerity, especially Susan Cabot and Barbara Morris. So much so that you can look past the cheap production and find it very entertaining.

I agree completely!! This is such a great, older classic, and the acting in it is top-notch!! That's what surprised me the most. But, loved the story line, and the "effects", for what they were, were commendable for the time. I always have a great time watching this movie. Personally, I'd love to see a genuine theatrical remake of this, and "The Leech Woman", which has a similar premise, as a double-bill, like Tarantino's double feature a few years back.

that would make an interesting movie combo...considering everything is being remade they will get to your idea soon enough *LOL*

I think it would be a great idea, really----of course, "juice it up" a notch for both----keep the same story lines, and the thematic premise, but add maybe just a touch of gore, and really make both of them scary-I mean REALLY REALLY scary, lots of atmoshere--I know it could be done, and I think it would be a hit!!!

yeah i can see it...would make a really good movie

Thanks!! It would be nice for once, since we know they're always going to remake movies, if they remade ones that NEED to be remade because they were cheap/not so good in the first place. And these two would fit that bill perfectly!! I love 'em both, but just think what they could do today with the stories!!

i happened to look away as this movie was on, and notice hearing the constant buzzing of bees early on is insane, it was reassuring to know this was on dvd when i saw the picture quality go about, on vhs tapes this is usually the sight before the vcr breaks, right. but still i think the quality on the movie macabre dvd collection there is better than on the hollyweird dvd collection, i couldn't quite get hooked on it there. isn't that the doctor brother from "jesse james meets frankenstein's daughter"?, i guess he got type casted as mad scientist, isn't that something. spoiler, suprisingly the actual wasp woman doesn't show up (in quite dark camera work and very briefly) until near before the end.

still travel on the old roads,
push this b.s. on us,
no glory here to be seen,
though that's what they'd have you believe,
in the rearview mirror is where it is,
can't stop progress,
that's what they all say,
nomather how messed up it gets,
is this the most modern country on earth,
a smashed landscape of what was here just,
this way is a foggy and pointless sight,
but you all better get in line,
dinosaurs alike,
hidden world online,
you got no choice,
they're tearing down our old roads.

Agreed. This film is a lot of fun. Susan Cabot was excellent in the lead. Barboura Morris was likewise fine in her role.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

Definitely a fun b-movie, nothing great but certainly not horrible. Cabot and Morris are very believable and they definitely help elevate this movie.

This is a fair movie, that held my interest since I could tell it was a campy B horror movie from the 50's.I didn't expect anything other than what I saw,I figured the special effects would be cheesy, the acting wooden, and everything on a shoestring budget.Susan Cabot was interesting as was the chemist. The scenes of her shooting up were quite nasty.
