What about the bankbooks as evidence against Iwabuchi

Spoiler ahead.
Itakura, at 02:16:21, says to Nishi, "He[Moriyama]says he left the bankbooks in a safe at the Muraki Inn in Tsukuji", and then leaves Nishi and Wada to retrieve said books, stating clearly that,"The inn will be a breeze". Later, Itikura says he has no evidence against Iwabuchi. Did I miss something, or is this a genuine plot hole? How did Iwabuchi beat Itikura to the inn to destroy evidence he could not have known about until after he discovered Nishi's, and Moriyama's whereabouts. We are never clued in to what happened to Itikura's mission to the Muraki Inn. At 02:25:20, Itakura says, "By now they've probably destroyed all material evidence." Is leaving the car for Nishi, placing Itakura on foot, the explanation? Seems a fairly cheap plot device. Perhaps when Nishi says at 02:15:48, "Don't panic. We'll leave first thing tomorrow", we are led to believe Itakura took his time retrieving the books. Poor, tragic Itakura should have remained in a panic.

Crap, I think I answered my own post. LMAO. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
