I just came from seeing LA VERITE at the 7PM showing of the film at the NY Film Forum tonight, August 21st, 2008(which was a one day only screening of the film) and the auditorium was jampacked! So was the previous two screenings of the film that same day and when I left the theatre after the screening, there was a real long line of moviegoers waiting to see the final screening. LA VERITE has not lost it's impact in more than 48 years and the 35mm print looked just great! Bardot's magnificent performance in the film still holds up after all these years and in my opinion, it's her best screen performance and is better than her performances in CONTEMPT,VIVA MARIA, AND GOD CREATED WOMAN & A VERY PRIVATE AFFAIR, which are considered some of her best films!
Wow, it had to be amazing! Lucky you! They should release best Brigitte Bardot films worldwide finally, if the people demands for Her are so high!

I apologise unreservedly, bardotek69, but when you say someone's lucky to have seen a film it suggested to me that you haven't (seen it). I watched "The Truth" last night for the first time, loved it. I love courtroom films and it was interesting to see the French system - different to others. BB was gorgeous, sexy and performed very well and there is so much to think about as it shows how subjective the truth can be. I loved the interplay between the barristers and it was fascinating to realise that what was considered decadent in France in 1960 wouldn't raise an eyebrow now. Where can I find your posts on "La Verite"?
