Jekyll was creepier than Hyde.

I liked this reinterpretation of the character, with Jekyll as the weird looking asocial personality and Hyde as the presentable charming one. Fredric March is still my favorite though.

From your subject line on, agree on all counts!

Another reversal that just occurred to me is that in this version it's Jekyll who ends up assaulting a little girl, something Hyde is guilty of in the original story.

Yeah, the trampling scene. I had the same thought because it was so vivid in the book. It was more uncomfortable in this film than anything Hyde does- that poor, sweet kid.

But Jekyll's lovableness (can't believe spell-check agrees that that's a word!) isn't really stressed in this version. He just sort of a workaholic with bad eyebrows and a slutty wife!
