TCM showed it

... but it is hardly a "classic", just old.

made for $150K in 8 days! What could one expect?

My favorite was the "invisible face shields."

I really liked the pooch, which they allowed free of its cage during the ascent. None of the animals appeared to suffer any ill effects, despite not being sedated for the liftoff. And that sequence when the cats were scooped up by (whatever) was one of the more hysterically funny moments in a movie filled with hysterical moments.

I thought the dog should have got an acting credit, as he spent more time on screen than some of the actors. If anything the dog looked bored when the rocket took off from Earth :D Glad the moon beings wanted the cats instead of the dog. If they had wanted the dog, I would have let the Earth freeze :D

Loved the film and enjoyed it a lot. Not worried about the budget, as that sort of thing is not my concern. Well worth watching.

The Turkish actor in the rocket crew turned 92 recently!!! :)

I can't believe this movie even cost 150 grand...Clerks was made on like, 1/8th of that budget and looks way better...

Lol, this movie is so bad it's hilarious...Pool side chairs are what they are strapped on when they take off? Buwahahahahaha...

Mr. Pink: You shoot anybody?
Mr. White: A few cops.
Mr. Pink: No real people?

You need to adjust the 150k for inflation. That gives you an even BETTER comparison. Maybe 150k then is equal to a half million now...

Well Clerks was also made like 35 years later and didn't really need a big budget because it was all no name actors and 95% of the movie was filmed at one location, and the other 5% was a 30 second shot of Dante's house as he gets the call and gets ready for work and a 30 second shot of the outside of a funeral home. None of which affected the budget at all because Kevin Smith worked at that convenient store and his boss let him film there for free. So essentially the entire budget went to film equipment and people to work them and the actors.

Now a scifi film has to pay to make a few to several huge sets, tons of props, special effects artists, etc etc. Clerks has a low ass budget but it didn't need a big budget in the first place. Scifi films always have a lot of stuff goin on behind screens to pay for. Doesn't mean this movie was good or anything, *beep* was sooo cheezy
