Spoofed in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel

So glad I saw this first, not that long before seeing TGBH. It was a nice little Easter egg when the guards were cutting through bread, cheese, and sausages, then the prisoners were digging with their small smuggled tools (hidden in pastries the guard couldn't bear to damage). Which reminds me: how did the prisoners in Le Trou get their tools through security, anyway?

By smuggling it - hidden into the greasy unsavory cakes (borrowed from TGBH)

But the guards were stabbing and slicing everything that came through. I don't know what you mean by "borrowed from TGBH", which was of course made over a half century later.
