should be in 250 list

this movie should be in top 250 list.....but not enough people have rated it....its a shame, people. :(

reply

This is another example why the IMDb top 250 is only made for Hollywood films and such. Look for other, better lists. Le Trou is such a great film.

reply

This movie not being in top 250 is a big joke.

reply

I disagree. I haven't looked at the IMDB top 250, but I personally have seen 347 films I like better than this one (as you'll see in the list in my sig), although I do think this is very good (8/10).

I agree. And You're right, SMW. Most of the "famous critics and movie experts" do not even mention this movie as one of the best prison break movies. People cannot find it on the 'lists' and recommendations so people do not watch it and people do not rate it.
Sad but true. That is - sad but trou

I would have never come across this masterpiece, had it not been for one of those "other prison-break films like this one..." threads (on this occasion on the "A Man Escaped." board)

Seems like old classics such as "Le Trou" will never get the true recognition they deserve unless it is by personal recommendation via word-of-mouth, or forums such as this.

As for the "IMDB top 250...." lists. Well its not very scientific, and open to wide abuse; so cannot be taken very seriously. But can still be used as a useful guide for some of the lesser known films out there - should they be lucky enough to be nominated in the first place.

classic catch-22 really.

How many ratings a movie needs to have to get into it (besides the fact they should be good ratings 😃)?

reply

25,000 i think

Ah, I see... Thank You.

I loved it. I give it a 9. There are only a few problems (how are people not hearing the loud banging?), but it's a definite nail biter.
