New England?

Where does the idea the film is set in New England come from?

The only reference to geography I can find is when Meg tells Tom that her father is thinking of giving them the house in Bel-Air. Combined with the Channel Islands/Santa Catalina filming locations, I'm inclined to say this is supposed to be a California island.

Anyone else have a thought on the topic?

The newly released MST3K DVD of Tormented includes a discussion between Bert I. Gordon, Susan Gordon (little Sandy), and Joe Turkel. According to Bert I., the actual lighthouse is in New England. There are only a few long range shots of the lighthouse. Everything else was shot in California. The many scenes of people entering the doorway down at ground level didn't use the actual lighthouse.

Susan Gordon, the little girl, is Bert I.'s daughter.

They didn't use the real lighthouse cuz peeps kept peeing in it.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

It looks a bit like the lighthouse in Monster from Piedras Blancas...or do all lighthouses look the same....

How dare U pass me up! Just kidding, but one can never be sure of intent. It IS the lighthouse from Piedras becuz I have been there in the flesh or is it in the cement. I have a nut case sister-in-law who lives not far from it and I see it whenever I speed past on my way to an afternoon of hilarity. Thanx for writing and enjoying basking in pee light over and over and over...!

Reference is inscrutable because there is nothing to scrute.
