P.S. - This is actually a repost from FG board (deleted long ago) and I apologize to all who already participated there. It would be really nice, if you could repeat the excercise here, in humble hope that this thread will be 'alive' a little longer. Thank you for your understanding. Cheers!

I always think I've seen more Truffaut than I actually have. I suppose because when I first started out "seriously" watching movies I considered three films a good taste of a director and moved on: so I saw three Truffauts, declared him my fourth favorite director, and never looked back! haha.... Well I've had a few recent disappointing ventures with the man this year, but as soon as I return to his FNW and Doinel films I'm sure he'll be back in my good graces.

Le Dernier métro (The Last Metro, 1980) 9.5/10 -- I seem to have a strange affinity for the "subgenre" of theatrical/musical-war films? I suppose that is how I take war best, as you prefer war dramas. (Light on battle scenes is best for us both.)

L'Histoire d'Adèle H. (The Story of Adele H, 1975) 6/10 -- I don't know if it's just Adjani who bothers me, or this story, or what: but I tend to like my films histrionic, yet this one just drove me mad.

Les Deux anglaises et le continent (Two English Girls, 1971) 5/10 -- Very disappointed by the thoughtless plot development in this one...

La Peau douce (The Soft Skin, 1964) 8/10 -- Confess I really remember very little of it, but I liked it a lot at the time.

Jules et Jim (Jules and Jim, 1962) 10/10 -- a film that has been immeasurably important to me, personally and cinematically. I wrote a bit about it "way back when" (2004): http://www.vicious-trollop.com/cinematic/?p=127

Les Quatre cents coups (The 400 Blows, 1959) 9/10

Hi 'gk',
thank you very much for your rates and additional comments. Much appreciated, as always. And if I'm not sadly mistaken you had to repeat this exercise (once again). Sorry, it had to be re-done (those threads vanish one after another, LOL).

Nice to see we pretty much agree.

"La Nuit américaine (Day for Night, 1973) 9.5/10 (one of my favourites)

Les Quatre cents coups (The 400 Blows, 1959) 10/10 (perhaps his masterpiece)"

And it seems that we VERY much agree on those 2. Kudos!

P.S. - Nice to see you 'back' (or should I say nice you're STILL here). Cheers!
