Will be on TCM Aug 23

TCM will show Tall Story on their Jane Fonda day, Aug 23 at 6am ET.

It's rarely on TV and I've never seen it on video, and certainly not DVD. I've been waiting years to see it again.

From what I recall it's a rather silly fluffy movie, but for some reason I was captivated by it. Maybe because the young Jane Fonda and Anthony Perkins were playing characters so different than how I was used to seeing them as a kid (I wasn't familiar with their very early days at that point). I mean, Norman Bates as a teen heart-throb, and activist/feminist Jane Fonda in her bitsy cheerleader outfit, going to college to snag a husband?! Weird! Will be fun to see again!

Check out "Period of Adjustment" right after that if you have`nt seen it already. It`s really fun!

i just came across it this morning while eating breakfast before work. i had no idea what the title was--until i got to work and checked this site--and i thought, "oh, that girl is really cute". i had no idea it was jane fonda! anyway, the movie was funny from what i saw (the scene where they visit fred and freda in the trailer).

Jane Fonda's debut performance, honestly speaking, is quite disappointing. The movie probably is the dumbest one I have seen this year. It makes me begin to realise why some people(e.g. Ebert Roger) hated Joshua Logan so much.

A film in which Jane Fonda gets to say very perkily and emphatically: "The only reason any smart girl goes to college is to get married" and then the rest of the entire comedy hinges on her coy little ways of insinuating herself into every facet of his life in trying to get her man by any means possible, ought to make it reason enough for her to totally disown it !

I thought it was a cute movie. It reflected that time period, when women really only were interested in finding a husband. Anthony Perkins was amazing in this...not Norman Bates amazing, but still really great job done.

tdoa, I`m exhasted after reading your thoughts! That was one long sentance!
Forgive Jane. She was young.... Her first movie???
Think of all of the things she said, just part of the times. Laugh!!! It was a movie! When you think about her over the years, it it`s sort of silly!
