Animals?

Tigers, elephants, cheetahs, vultures, zebras, and hyenas?

I don't think those live in the same biome.

When Ernst broached the possibility of the island having been originally linked by a land bridge, I thought he was on the brink of stumbling onto the idea of Darwinian evolution.

THey don't. It's just Disney Studios being Hollywood.

Correct...they don't!! And the OP left out Macaws and iguanas.....and what looked to be a komodo dragon....and I am sure I am even leaving some of them out.

The perplexing thing I have with Mr. Disney permitting this, is that he was always a forward thinker and could see so well into the future on so many of his ideas and projects.

Yet, he never really understood how his movies were not just made for the year, or era they were created in, but would live on into the future....

This movie was not made in 1860.....but rather 1960!!! And a lot more care should have gone into the details of the animal life on the island. They knew better...even in 1960!!

Maybe I am the wrong person to be playing film critic here---because I think all movies, and TV shows about animals are boring and when animal scenes come on, I FF to the end of the scene. I ignore all movies and shows that the animal is the STAR (except for Jaws, which really isn't about the shark, as much as it is about the human reaction to it and interaction with it).

This movie is all about the tree house and the families' attempt to live well, not just survive, after being shipwrecked...and it really drags when the animals take center stage....

As I said in another thread, I could have watched 2 hours of the ship salvaging, the planning, and building of the tree house. Guess this is why I like This Old Hose and Trading Spaces better than movies about people's pets..!

They wasted most of this film with pirate prep, pirate attacks and animal stuff...ruined a great premise...!!

My favorite movie, along these lines in Mysterious Island (the sequel to 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea--a movie which most people hated, but I liked). In MI, they actually spend a considerable about of time to plan and discuss, as well as show them building their home. The animals are a plot device to A. feed them...and B. to hint that there are some mysterious goings on, on the island!!!

Very old post. However, except for tigers, all the rest would be found in the same environment.
