Pathetic characters

lost in their marriages, raising kids, their social lives--lives without much passion--cheating and falling in love as an escape. But still I was rooting for them despite my brain reminding me it was adultery and was done without regard for their respective spouses' feelings (if they'd found out). Love, sex, and secrecy, a powerful combination.

They knew it was wrong and they did it anyway, not apparently considering the path of divorce as a potential solution.

But Maggie's husband wasn't even willing to have sex when she was practically begging for it. He must have been exhausted from worn and unhealthy or a closet homosexual or a religious fanatic who didn't believe in birth control but didn't want any any more kids either.

Larry's wife was too dependent and controlling. When she found out about wh affair she told him to get out of the house (which he pays for) and minutes later she is begging him not to leave and telling him she can't live without him. Larry ruined her and his life will be empty from then on. And Maggie will go find another guy who will give her an imitation of the love her husband won't.
