I'm curious to know where they filmed this, where is the actual island depicted in the film. I realize it's a German movie but where exactly is this island ?
The biggest mistake I can think of is the lack of setting. Why do they have the girls in LA/Hollywood at the beginning when the girls go to Gary's offices to audition and at the same time they fly out of New York City to reach Singapore. There is a confusion to the setting. Is it LA or New York ?
I assume the NY footage was simply available for less money, or possibly free, & the filmmakers decided 'Eh, who'll notice?'. I think this is also why the plane footage first showed a plane w/2 engines, then a plane w/4 engines. It cost less, or was free stock footage.
However, I'd also like to know where the island scenes were filmed. I'm guessing one of the islands in So California, like Catalina, for at least some of it. Does anyone know?
The island filmed in the movie is definitely not one of the Channel Islands off southern California. I have SCUBA dived off Catalina and another one near Santa Barbara and those islands don't look anything like the one in the movie.
My guess is that an island in the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Yugoslavia (now Croatia) was used. Enter 'Nikola, Croatia' at https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=nl and you will see similar cliffs to those in the movie.
