The space ships in this movie look just like some of the plastic model "concept" space ships that were for sale in hobby shops at about this time. The main ship looks just like the Strombecker "Man-in-Space" ship that came out in 1958. The wrecked ship they encountered about 20 minutes into the movie looks like the Lindberg "U.S. Moonship" from that same year.
I guess that's one way to save on your effects budget. These models cost about a buck apiece in those days, although they are collector's items today.

You are wrong, my little friend. You have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. You do not believe except what you see. You think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by your little mind.
All minds, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.
Yes, indeed, these spaceships did fly! As certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! -- how dreary would be the world if these gleaming starships did not fly!
Says you! Another guy with an ancient, juvenile mind, and to think, perchance to dream...The hugeness of it! The beleagured, racnoid mind! All dlinks plepaled! Incidentally, hoid from hob; he no get to be burgermeister and he no get to Paree. Still a muvie slob and a bowlegged humanoid savant.
Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.
That's too bad about the voters not recognizing a good man when they see one. Ants! Fly specks, fly specks! We spend our lives among fly specks while miracles have been leaning on lampposts at 18th and Fairfax!
The City of Light is diminished without his and his beloved's presence. So it goes.
Those are really great. I love the look. May even buy a few. They are still great gifts for the 8 to 13 year range. Perhaps even a bit older persons 'like myself' ;-)
