Sensor Beam scene... A prelude to 'Entrapment' (1999) (Spoiler Alert)

It is amazing how similar the sensor beam scene in this movie is to the laser beam scene in "Entrapment." You even have the gyrations. Was this movie ever given credit for inspiration?

Was the first film to use a Car chase given credit for every film since that had a car chase scene in it?

Seriously guy... There is nothing that claims this film was the inspiration for Entrapment. Lots of films have used similar scenes.

I joined the Navy to see the world, only to discover the world is 2/3 water!

Was this kind of sensor beam technology even available, in this form, to be used as it is in this film, set 1940-41? If not, it would be a less excusable anachronism than the true code-breaking story (mentioned in "Goofs"), which was not public at the time this film was made.

GREAT POINT!!! I don't think it was possible in the early 40's.
