Who actually played the piano?

Although I am half-convinced that Bogarde really knew how to play the piano, some accomplished artist must have played the actual pieces used in the movie. Who was he/she?

I happened to look this up, because I saw the film years ago (1960) and bought the album. The piano playing on my album was Jorge Bolet, but I do not know if he actually played it in the film. I think Paul Whiteman's orchestra really played their scenes. I have no idea what happened to my album..33 1/3...

Sorry, but no. It was Jorge Bolet, probably the greatest pianist of that era. Not only is he credited on my copy of the movie, I remember it very well, as he played only Baldwins, which my father sold. We had the LP of the movie and many more of Bolet's recordings.

Jorge Bolet actually played the piano, yes. But Paul Whiteman's orchestra??? Wherever did you get that ridiculous notion? The nearest Whiteman ever got to playing classical music was when he played George Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue, which certainly can't be considered classical music. Other than that, he mainly played his own watered-down brand of 1920s / 1930s jazz.
