Chronology of '7 Thieves' and 'Ocean's Eleven'

Both "robbery planned by gang" films were released the same year (1960), but "Seven Thieves" was first. It was in production from late July '59 to late October '59, then was released on March 12, 1960. "Ocean's Eleven" (original, with Sinatra and Dean Martin) was in production from mid-January to mid-March '60, and was released on August 10, 1960, five months after "Seven Thieves." -- Prof Steven P Hill, Cinema Studies, University of Illinois.

It seems from your chronology that Seven Thieves would not have influenced Oceans 11 significantly if it was in production before Seven Thieves was completed, or is it possible that someone at Warner Brothers could have seen the Fox production before it was completed or they could have read the screenplay? It's probably irrelevant since there were so many good caper films that preceeded them that could have influenced either film, especially Bob le Flambeur 1956, which also involved planning a casino robbery.
