What did you think ?

In the 1st tennis match, did it look like IC actually had much more experience and technique than TT ??

I realize that the story called for IC to screw up and fail in front of April, but it just looked like he actually KNEW more about tennis / had much more experience / had better style and technique than TT !

(TT's technique seemed to have improved by the 2nd game, so perhaps he had had some lessons in the meantime ??)

We already know Henry Palfrey is a better tennis player than 'Walter' (who never appears) but is dropped from the team for some sort of tournament. Henry may be a better player but he is an easy-going doormat who allows his lack of confidence to let people get the better of him.

Delauney does not outplay him, he uses an air of social superiority to beat him down psychologically and this is why he wins. When Henry learns to do the same he reverses the situation.

Thanks enochsneed --- in replaying the situation in my mind, it now makes perfect sense !
