Maybe it's because I have never seen the film on a large tv before last night, but I had never noticed something about Sim before - the extraordinaryly luxuriant tufts of dark hair growing out of his ears. Have a look at the final scene when he addresses the camera directly to see what I mean. Surely they can't be real? But if they aren't real, then why?

I was wondering about that myself. At first I thought it was just shadows caused by the shape of his ears, but at the end of the movie, when he addresses the camera, you can clearly see large black tufts of hair growing out of his ears.
