i studied and watched this movie in my film studies class and was amazed at not only how good looking finney is in this film, but how good the match was between finney and ewan mcgregor in big fish. mcgregor is the spitting image of finney as a young man, and i think the casting people did a really great job! well done!

Most of us look better when we are younger ... it's called ageing .. You might want to look out for the movie " Scrooge " with Finney in it around Christmas time .. It was made in 1970 and it is a musical .. but imo it's the best Scrooge movie made .. and Finney is great in it ... and yes I find him good looking too .. even in his older years .

Amen!! And SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO georgeous. Is this one out on DVD yet? I've seen it a couple of times on Turner classic Movies, but can't get enough of it------------------or him. I agree about Ewan McGregor looking so much like Albert F. when he was younger. I also liked his acting in "The Playboys" (1992). He's awesome !!

I saw some similarities to William Shatner (pre-Star Trek, in his days on "The Twilight Zone" or "The Intruder" (1962)).
But now that I think about it, I think you're right about Ewan McGregor as well.
I vote for a young Albert Finney looking like a young Ewan McGregor. They have similar builds and roundish face.
Ben Affleck has that more rectangular, horsey face, that is considered handsome these days. Plus he's taller and more athletic looking.

shareI thought he looked a bit like Ed Burns. I was amazed at how cute he was! I had only seen him as an older actor, in things like Wolfen, and one movie critic said something about how he was--in his youth-- "the most beautiful man on earth," and I was like, oh, right. Then I saw him in this... man, he was gorgeous!
