Hows does this compare to the novel?

I aint actually seen the film yet but have recently finished the novel which i found to be quite frankly: superb. i was wondering if anyone had read the novel and watched the film and had a favourite between them. i know i'll be watching this regardless of what people say but i'm just interested.

i'm a native to derby myself but have a lot of family in nottingham and just loved any mention of 'hey up, me duck' etc in the novel. the whole thing reminded me of what my grandad might've got upto in the days gone by. i hope the colloquialisms stayed strong in the film.

you will not be disapointed, plenty of me ducks and I think that the movie does the novel proud.

Yeah, I really loved the novel myself --- it's one of the best books I've read in the last 10 - 15 years !

I think that the movie suffers very much in comparison, prob. because of lingering censorship in British movies of the early 60s.

In the movie, however, the romantic scenes between our hero and his ladies are probably the most touching, tender love scenes I've seen in a movie in a long time !

J'ai l'œil AMÉRICAIN !
