OT: Has anybody seen the film Psycho?
Is it any good?
shareNo, I have not. So I don't know. But I'll check it out and get back to you...
shareI have, and it's very good
shareYes. It's a classic. And it was shocking for it's time in a lot of ways.
Without spoilers, here are some things to notice:
Showing an unmarried couple in a hotel room getting dressed was not a thing in 1960s cinema. This movie was intentionally a little lurid and Hitchcock did everything he could to get some things past the censors.
The most dated part of the movie comes when the psychiatrist tries to explain the events of the film at the end.
Bernard Hermann's score is awesome. Hitchcock's daughter plays Janet Leigh's coworker in the office.
I have also seen it.
shareWhat did you think? It's okay to think it's dated. I didn't like Citizen Kane.
shareI thought it was really good.
I like old horror movies.
I really like black and white horror films.
I think Hitchcock became synonymous with these classy thrillers, which are great, but it would have been cool to see him do a genre film like The Haunting.
I think Psycho was really the kind of horror he preferred. No monsters other than the people you wouldn't suspect of being monsters.
