Subtitles

I remember seeing this film on TV back in the late 60's and loved it. The two things I remember after 40 years was the cash register ringing when a glass was broken and the great shot of the four women walking towards the viewer what a great shot of women who were sure of themselves.

I don't think any film would be shown on TV with subtitles back then, it must have been a dubbed version. On TCM some of the film was subtitled and I could only read the 1st line of a two line subtitle. I tried playing with the picture dimensions on my flat screen but no luck.

Any one else have problems reading the second line of the subtitles?

I just watched it on the streaming version of Netflix, and thought the subtitles were very low on the bottom of the screen, I was able to read them just fine.

TCM just aired this again last week with the same problem. I think I'm going to delete it and wait for it to air one day with proper subtitles. How am I supposed to watch and enjoy a foreign film without understanding the dialogue?? Such a shame because this is definitely something I want to see once, and it rarely airs on TV (TCM).
