Delon : A lady's magnet

I haven't seen much films of his, but after having seen this one, oh boy with that face, he must have been a hit with women big time. I mean i can't think of anyone among actors today so beautiful, talented and with so much charm.
Clooney is not even in his league on beauty alone (i won't even mention acting).
I'm a straight guy and if i had to have a different face for a little time, i'd have this one for sure lol.

He was paired up with Jane Fonda, Nico, Marianne Faithfull, Claudia Cardinale, and Brigitte Bardot, basically the most elegant/cool/beautiful women of the '60s, so yeah, he was a hit with the ladies (and supposedly admitted to giving himself over to the men occasionally as well).

reply

He always was considered the French James Dean and I always see some similarity with James Dean who was also a very attractive man.

From what I remember, Alain Delon was involved in some mafia crime in the late sixties/seventies. Supposedly his body guard was the one who did it, but Delon was questioned by the French police/Sureté too. It didn't affect his movie career though.
imdb quote: In 1968, one of Delon's bodyguards, Stevan Markovic, was found shot in the head in a dumpster outside Delon's home. Delon's friend, Corsican gangster François Marcantoni, was charged with accessory to murder. Delon himself was held by police for questioning, despite the fact that the murder took place in Paris, and Delon was filming in St. Tropez. Delon's then-wife, Nathalie, was also questioned.

Delon was enganged to Romy Schneider, then married to Nathalie Delon from 1964 - 1969 (their attractive son Anthony Delon starred in the BBC movie "Frenchman's Creek" based on Daphne DuMaurier's novel), then divorced and living for many years with French actress Mireille Darc (1968 - 1982), then got married with Rosalie Van Breemen (1988 - 2001) with whom he had 2 more kids.

I wish he would write his autobiography!

reply

He was never married to Rosalie Van Breemen.

reply

According to the imdb he was married to her for 14 years.

Sometimes they are listed as having been married and sometimes not. From all of my readings on Delon I don't think they were.

If they had been married it would be a matter of public record and I don't think they would ever be referred to as just partners.

You must be right.
Thanks for the link.

A very fashionable thing to say these days. But it is highly unlikely (any sources you care mentioning?), since Alain Delon recently said that homosexual sex is « contre nature » (against nature).

For those interested, Delon had a son with Nico [of Velvet Underground] whom he denied was his child for many years. He could not deny it forever as Ari grew up looking like his father's identical twin except w/ a large black mole on his forehead [see photos].

Since Nico rambled the Earth like a gypsy and was a junkie, the son Ari was raised by Nico's mother & Delon's parents. When Ari was a teenager, Nico came back to her mother's to visit Ari and borrow money from her mother and taught him how to shoot heroin. You know the family that shoots up together stays together...yadda yadda. Fantatique, non? Ari later became a photographer and had a son of his own. He was staying with Nico on Ibiza in 1988 when she had a heart attack while riding a bicycle on a the way to score some weed and suffered a fatal head injury.

Ari among all of Delon's kids, looks the most like him but come on now, he does not look identically like Delon. At all. Ari has his eyes and cheekbones but not the rest and is not near as good looking as his father was.

I find Delon's refusal to recognize Ari as his as interesting though. I think it has more to do with the mother than Ari himself. And I wonder what made Delon hate the mother so? Did she drug & rape him? Did she intentionally get pregnant by him? What exactly happened between them?

"and supposedly admitted to giving himself over to the men occasionally as well"

^^^I've read this attributed to Delon himself over and over but did he really say it and if so, do you have the quote?

reply

And with all of them, he was still the most beautiful one in the coupling. Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe are probably in his league of beauty.

reply

Agree, I call him the male Elizabeth Taylor.

Your username is familiar, do you frequent classic films often?

I suppose he was a lady's magnet- but he was also a dude's magnet. Lots of bisexual men desired him. And straight-identified men like the guy who started this thread were taken with his beauty.

reply

I would say that Delon's appeal was in his ambiguity. He was very masculine in terms of attitude, "despite" his beautiful face, and that seemed to leave both men and women a bit "confused/intrigued".
However, Delon had a feminine side that he rarely showed or never showed on screen, it could only be noticed when he was not acting, it was subtle but quite shocking (positively shocking, I would say) lol, especially for those who had never seen before. I can understand why he rarely showed it, times were different then.

For example?

I think I'll have a large order of prognosis negative.

I think that guy is intentionally making things up to titillate us, lol!

Not only is Delon a hottie, he reminded me of Jude Law immediately. These two could be relatives. To me, Delon resembles a mix of Zac Efron and Jude Law.

To me, it was Maurice Ronet (Philippe Greenleaf) who looked like Jude Law. I thought the resemblance was striking. Since they played the same character, I wonder if this was coincidence or if Law was cast partly because of his resemblance to Ronet.

I do agree that Zac Efron looks a lot like Alain Delon - quite a lot. Both are extremely handsome men of a similar type. Efron is more muscular in the modern fashion, but facially there is a strong resemblance.

reply

Efron is nowhere near the beauty Delon was in his youth Imo.

reply

To me, Delon looks like a combination of Zac Efron, Enrique Iglesias and Robert Redford, actually.

I've been a long time Delon fan, and have seen all of his films on DVD. My favorites are LeSamoui, L'Eclisse, Purple Noon, and Un Flic. Back in the day when you could write to actors, I found his agent and he sent me a beautiful photo of Delon. I treasure it!

reply

Clooney looks very different from Delon, Delon has that ethereal dangerous beauty like Vivien Leigh or Al Pacino in The Godfather.

reply

A little known classic actor with the same vibe is Mark Damon, who I discovered from watching the House of Usher. He was an absolute stunner.
