Romy Schneider cameo + Who is the handsome police inspector?

Does anybody recognize the actor at 1:25 who plays the handsome police inspector in Rome and comes to see Ripley in his new hotel room after Ripley moved out of the apartment?
The actor who plays the police investigator looks very familiar, I assume it must be a French actor, but I might be wrong and he is an Italian actor.
The imdb gives unfortunately only a very limited cast list which cannot get extended.

Also did anybody recognize Romy Schneider in the first scene in Rome with Freddy Miles? She was Alain Delon's real life fiancé at that time in the sixties that's why René Clément gave her that cameo.
