Sloppy Region 1 DVD production... Criterion?

Looks like there's only dubbed English on this DVD. You can't even get it to play in the original French soundtrack with English subtitle. When will Criterion come to the rescue?

reply

I don't understand your problem. There are pleanty available at Amazon which feature the edition produced by Scorcese. You can also find DVDs at eBay in French with subtitles. They're from Korea and claim to be ligit. They are the ones which show Alain Delon on the yacht. They also claim to be wide screen??

I thought mine "Purple Noon" is the edition produced by Scorcese. His name is visible on the opening credit.

Purple Noon was added to Criterion Hulu, so maybe a Criterion Blu ray and DVD may be in the works.

Criterion blu-ray will be released Dec. 4th 2012. I've pre-ordered mine.

The DVD by Criterion does not include the Highsmith or the Delon interview.
I wonder if it's only on Blue-ray even though the DVD cover claims it's on DVD, too???

The dubbing is perfect, Alain Delon's voice just sounds like his real French voice. I watched this movie so many times in French and a few times with German dubbing (when I was much younger) so I knew the dialogues by heart, the English dubbing didn't change a bit. Trust me!
Same with the "Angélique" movies (Michèle Mercier), they have the exact same dubbing in English as they have in German and I've watched them in French. These dubbing studios did an excellent job, they know what they are doing!
