Pepe vs. Mad Mad World vs. Loved One

... plot of PEPE not as fun as Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963), but a step up from The Loved One (1965). Several song and dance bits from Pepe are preposterous, such as the Tequila number, and when Shirley Jones goes down the street singing the virtues of Pepe, although she can't pronounce his name correctly. Cantinflas (Pepe) had just made Around the World, so he was all the rage, and does his part to keep the story moving. Some good photography of Mexico locations. Film starts slow, gets better as it goes along. We hear Judy sing a song, never actually see her, and it doesn't look like she was doing much else that year.... and to top it off, the announcer has to tell us who that was singing. And couldn't Bing sing a whole song? I'd have to go with Mad Mad World as my favorite of these three cameo films, but you do have to mute it when Ethel Merman starts screeching.
