I agree with all your post... I personally dont care if of course they age, but clearly he looks hung over
shareI just watched this tonight on TCM and yes, he looks much older than his age. By this point in his life, he was a major boozer and since he had insomnia, he took barbiturates as well. About two years before this, he was found with a self-inflicted bullet wound in his chest, he said it was an accident but it's thought to be a suicide attempt. He, of course, died from mixing booze and pills. Very very sad.
He's not an all-time great actor, IMO, but in stuff like his movies with Veronica Lake he's fantastic.
