Movies about musicians

I found this message board looking for the Yul Brynner comedy "Once More With Feeling" where he plays a hilariously egotistical conductor.

Does anyone know the name of another movie about musicians, probably released in the 1990's: a college aged couple who were raised together as siblings (she was adopted), he a cellist and she a violinist. Her feelings turn into love, and jealousy when he enlists a recent graduate to help him out on his senior recital. This "other woman" gets locked in a practice room. We also find that the adopted girl's parents were also musicians--totally into their art and not inclined to be anybody's parents. It's hysterical! The cellist looks a little like John Cusack but I don't think it's him. The violinist has long, curly hair and acts a little goofy (not Joan Cusack, but could have been.)
