The old wallet is getting mighty thin these days...

Money was getting short? So what was Roddy McDowell's character doing at the ballet?

reply

He was using his mother's money to take that chick on a date.

I never did quite catch why he thought Kit was obligated to give him money??

reply

Probably because Kit was so kind and generous to his mother. She did give her money to buy a new coat and said she'd pay the doctor's bill (although in England socialized medicine makes this a mute point). Being selfish and lazy, he figured he would impose on Kit's generosity. As for the young woman who accompanied him to the opera, she probably paid for the tickets!

In 1960 you could get a seat in the orchestra section for a pound. Not hundreds like today. Things were much more reasonably priced.
