...This movie has a strong "Hitchcock" vibe---and that's a good thing!

....Of course it doesn't hurt that "Midnight Lace" also features several stars who also worked with Alfred Hitchcock, most notably John Gavin ("Psycho" and the "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour"), Roddy McDowall ("The Alfred Hitchcock Hour"), John Williams ("Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "To Catch a Thief" and "Dial M for Murder") and Anthony Dawson ("Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "Dial M for Murder"). Well actors have their "hour in the sun" and get typecast in roles and then turn up in similar parts for a few years and then fall out of favour. The "six degrees of separation" game shows that it is not so much coincidence, just life. However though Midnight Lace may have some flavour of Hitchcock, it is nowhere near a Hitchcock. Hitchcock never made a boring film, this one plots along at a snail pace, and you soon get fed up with Doris wailing all the time - tighter script and much more active direction required.

Yes but unfortunately no Hitchcock at the helm he would have tightened this up to make a far more credible film.

And don't forget Doris Day herself, who played in Hitchcock's 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' (where she sings 'Que Sera, Sera'). Definitely a Hitch vibe!
