What a piece of garbage

The entire message of the original Seven Samurai is lost on this. The farmers won, we lost. YOU CAME BACK TO SAVE THEM ON YOUR OWN VOLITION, EVERYONE IS FRIGGING SMILING, THAT IDIOT GOT THE GIRL WHEN HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO, AND THERE'S HAPPY MUSIC PLAYING. It makes no damn sense.

It makes no sense to hire "men" (lol), when you can just buy guns instead. Guns made skilled warriors obsolete. Hiring seven samurai made sense before the gunpowder age, but guns gave an unskilled peasant the ability to undermine a skilled warrior who trained his entire life. This fact is the reason why every samurai was killed by matchlock fire, it was an allusion to the end of the samurai. BUT THIS POWERFUL MESSAGE IS COMPLETELY LOST IN THIS FILM.

There's so many other stupid things, and things that make no sense in this film, but I can't be bothered to list them all. 1/10, a bastardization of the original. I cringe at the idea that THIS movie is being remade. *shudders*

Thank you!

Give an untrained man a gun & he will probably shoot himself in the foot. why do you thing soldiers are trained for months before being sent into action?

reply

Actually they ended up buying men and guns. Men who trained them how to use the guns and lead the battle. No wonder the villagers were happy at the end. No more bad guys, a supply of weapons, and training.

I tried to watch the original, but didn't get far.

I have a lot of trouble watching foreign movies, even the ones from England and Australia.

I don't know what country you're from, so I'm not sure what constitues a foreign film to you. I'm guessing you're American. You say you have a hard time watching foreign films, which I can only assume it's because of subtitles. Then you specifically bring up having trouble with English speaking movies from England and Australia. Are you okay with movies from English speaking counties like New Zealand, Canada, South Africa etc? If you are referring to all English speaking countries as well, then how come you don't have trouble with The Magnificent Seven? Is it the accents, settings? There are so many questions to your post.

reply

I am an American. I could never watch a Japanese movie in the Japanese language.

I don't watch very many foreign films in the English language.

That's just how it is.
