Elmer was ripped off

I mean, look at what won for score - Exodus? Can ya remember that theme? Probably not.

Most people have heard the theme from the Magnificent Seven by the time they were 5.

This score was one of those that epitomizes the western, and Mr. Bernstein should have won. Winners should stand the test of time. I don't get this one at all. You watch those men on horses running across the desert, it is glorious, the music makes it even more so.

Pfft on the academy.

We played this Theme in High School Band. It was one our favorite numbers after Peter Gunn.

Had to play Theme from Exodus for piano recital.

Leslie West's original group 'The Vagrants' used to do a powerful version of The Theme from Exodus.

Agree. But Bernstein's intro music for Calvera is also very good and he gives it a sense of menace when Calvera and his cutthroats enter the village.

His scores are great and different from each other. A lot of good composers work sounds the same.

Bernstein's score is great in its entirety; however, the reason its main theme's familiarity has lasted so long after the movie's theatrical release is because it was pounded into everyone's head for many years in cigarette commercials.
