That was hard to believe, just because of a different hat they didn't recognize him ?? And I thought that scene was totally unnecessary anyway, seemed like it was just pasted in for some reason.

Yes, that was pretty silly - that nobody in the entire gang could recognize him as not being one of them, even if they might not have remembered him as being one of the opposition. Not believable.

I'm starting to watch a lot of old films, and I notice that westerns especially, are just a lot of horse dung. I started to watch "Unforgiven", and didn't even bother staying until the end, plot was just a bunch of B.S.

Calvera's gang has been riding together for a long time, and he thinks of them as his family. Yet neither he nor any of the other guys notices that a stranger is hanging around. No, it doesn't make any sense.
