The narrator in the beginning -
sounds pretty unmistakably like Richard Haydn.
IMDB makes no mention of it, credited or uncredited.
Did anyone else think so?

Yes, I agree. It's exactly what I thought when I watched the film yesterday.

Ah good. Then I'm not crazy. =P
IMDB usually mentions uncredited roles like that.
Wonder what the deal is with this one.

Now why do I think it's Wilfrid Hyde-White ?
(ok I'll admit it's been some time that I haven't watched this, but I think I remember it's him)

Hyde-White plays a character in the film, but isn't actually the one who narrates it. Or at least I don't think he does!

I do know he plays (a quite memorable part too). What I meant was that as far as I remembered the narrator's voice sounds much like his (which would make some sense since he seems to be kind of a patron to Clement)
