The Specialisation song.

Marilyn...Oh my gooood, she was stunning. But that dress! She looked practically naked, I was so shocked! I loved it. Absolutely amazing. Marilyn was gorgeous in this movie, as always.

Just imagine what audiences in 1960 thought! I do love this number, tho it is very silly. And I love how she looks, tho she is plump to bursting out of that flimsy gown.

That was a wonderful gown, and the one for the "Let's Make Love" song was lovely too.

Yves' attempts with a cock-a-doodle-doo were hilarious.

Why ain't you at the garden party you heathen?

That song is one of the highlights of the movie. The Marilyn magic is still there despite the critical lashings and "overweight" accusations. All I can say is that if her appearance here is 'overweight' than I'd LOVE to have that figure!!

I agree. I liked her in this film. It's not one of her best, but even a bad Marilyn Monroe film is scrumptious. Did those accusations come from people on this board, or when the film was made. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Marilyn was ever criticized for being overweight in her time, just sexy and voluptuous.
I think our standards of beauty have changed a lot since then. They liked soft and curvy then. Now women are expected to be have thin and muscular hard bodies.

She did have some problems with acne which caused her to be self-conscious and late to filming a lot.

The overweight criticism was true by collegues and the press.I have copies from old original press junkets from newspapers back in those times,[microfilm at the library] ,that show proof of columnists and critics stating she was "overweight" in this film and in 'Some Like It Hot'.

If you go back and research from microfilm at your local library old newspapers that have news stories of Marilyn while she was ALIVE, the press loved her but you see many dramatic turns of events and drama on/off her film career. It is the best way to learn about her more than anything printed currently!..That is if anyone is curious about her personally.

She was, is still the ultimate sex symbol. When Marilyn turns with her small delicate shoulders to the audience, she looks like Venus come to life. How sad we had to lose her. She also looks great with her hair up.
