Are they Wends?

In at least one sequence of this film, some tribesmen (allies of the Poles) are shown in camp. These people are dressed in what appear to be bearskins, complete with ears. Are they meant to be Wends (Old Prussians)? Or some similar (now extinct) Baltic group?

It's not clear, but I think they're Samogitians, from what is now western Lithuania. The Samogitians aren't extinct - at least, they still speak their own distinctive dialect.
