share1. The Young One is indeed a good movie but no way is one of the best films by Buñuel (I can think right now on at least 15 films by Buñuel better than The Young One).
2. Gran Casino certainly is his "worst" film, but it's not that bad. At least it's quite entertaining and would be appealing to all the lovers of the golden age of mexican cinema, in particular to the fans of Jorge Negrete and Libertad Lamarque. Gran Casino even contains a couple of "buñuelian" moments...
However GC might be one of the most important films ever directed by Buñuel. The commercial success of his early works in México (Gran Casino and mainly El gran calavera) allowed him to re-launch his directorial career. Remember that 17 years have already passed since Buñuel shot L'âge d'or.
If not for those two minor works, some of his masterpieces like Los olvidados could not have been made. Think about it.
