No Apologies! I'm Giving This a 10 !!

I've seen this 5 or 6 times since the mid 80's, and each time I like it more.
Wide screen is essential to frame the ensemble acting & re-acting

I'm not going to list WHY;
and I'm not going to reveal ANYTHING.
The less a 1st time viewer knows, the richer the reward.

And I applaud that the plot took enough left turns that made the outcome unpredictable.
The character relationships evolves and all are changed before the conclusion.
In the end, the irony made perfect sense.
One of my richest movie viewing experiences.

And enough enjoyment to defy the opinion of some external pro reviewers.
Not many are good enough to review a film without giving away too much.
It takes no talent to simply regurgitate key plot points.
Children do that very well...and some reviewers (unfortunately) do too.

This qualifies as one of THE rare buried nuggets of the 50/60's films from MGM.
To discover this for the first time is like finding treasure.

Everyone has an opinion.
Mine is cemented in this!
I haven't seen this in years;
...just writing this makes me wanna watch it again in the next few days.
Already; I can't wait!

I'm gonna steal another poster's summation and that summation spells one word.
Extraordinary and Outstanding on all levels!!
(Ok...so it's 6 words)

Same here - 10. I saw it for the first time today and I am old enough to have seen it in 1960. I LOVE TCM.

I have to disagree, no higher than a 9.9 tops.

I watched it again last night on TCM. I first saw "Home from the Hill" on NBC's Saturday Night at the Movies back in the late 1960s.
I loved the movie then and love it to this day. This is one of my favorite Robert Mitchum films and the rest of the cast is outstanding as well. George Peppard was fine in other movies, e.g. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" but this is the movie that made Hollywood take notice.

I give movie a 10. Even though I know the film and every line of dialogue it never fails to hold my attention from start to finish. The musical score by Bronislau Kaper who also did "Lili" is great as well.
