I'm SO Excited!!

I haven't seen this wonderful movie since I was a little girl in the mid 60's (CBS Children's Film Festival.) It really made an impression on me and I have always remembered it and wished that I could see it again.

Well, imagine my suprise when channel surfing tonight...there it was, Hand in Hand! Unbelievable! I dashed upstairs to get a blank tape and recorded it straight away. I still can't believe it.

YEA!!

I had the same experience, flipping channels last night and the second I saw Rachel I knew it was this film. I haven't seen it since 1972 or so. It seems everybody on IMDB saw this movie on the CBS Children's Film Festival on television rather than at the movies or another airing! I never forgot it but did forget the title but like someone else mentioned on a post, I found the name on a Kukla, Fran, and Ollie site a few years ago. (I seem to recall CFF also ran once a week afternoons for a period weekdays during the summer?) I saw it back then once, maybe twice. I was amazed to discover this film was already a decade old when I saw it - I thought it was made for the program. I think most people relate so strongly to it because they were roughly the ages of the children in the film when they view it and it's one of the few serious "real life" films from a child's viewpoint.

I recorded it too last night but alas, missed the first 20 minutes or so but still got most of it. It aired on the TBN religious channel as one of their late movies - they've started airing a number of religious and semi-religious films late nights - let's hope they show it again in the future.

Me too! I saw this movie when I was very little and have been asking about it ever since. That's about 45 years! I remembered the name, "Hand In Hand," but never met anyone who had heard of it. My memories of it are so very vivid and I have always wanted to share it with my son. And last night, doing just what you were doing, channel flipping, THERE IT WAS! I was so stunned, I didn't even think of recording it. Now I'm on a search to buy a copy from somewhere, anywhere. The movie had such a strong impact on me. Nothing else affected me quite the same way. It it heart-warming to read that it affected others similarly.

I was so surprised to hear that so many of us in our late 40s/early 50s remember this film so fondly. As I read other posts I realize that others felt the same way I had and had thought about it off and on during the past forty-five years. I caught it tonight on TBN - looks like it might be a good place to catch it some night as someone else mentioned seeing it on TBN back in February so all of you who want to see it again or tape it might keep an eye on the TBN listings, especially late night.

Does that mean I am forced to watch the ghastly Jan Crouch, waiting night after night for TBN to broadcast Hand in Hand again (no doubt with continuous logo "bug" on the screen to distract from the action).

My copy is a direct digital transfer from 16mm, that's the way to go to get the best copy available.

reply

no, you do not have to worry, nobody tells you that you have to watch TBN, your life, do as you please but, keep complaints to yourself if you do not have to watch. As Bobby Brown sang "it's my perogative" of course, we see where that got him.

Dear jpb58:

Could you please advise who I can contact to obtain a copy directly from a 16mm? Possibly include an email address and or phone number?

I saw this movie for the first time last night. I would love to add this to my collection.

Thank you and God Bless.

Thank you. This film was really memorable to me and I am glad to find it's available on DVD.

I contacted movielead for info on this title. They deal with the movie archives and HAVE a print of this. This is in digital quality.

It's a bit pricy for a DVD of this (around $40), but I think this title is well worth it.
