Love is More Powerful Than...

Hi, I'm one of those who couldn't get this movie out of my head, it had
quite a profound impact, though my memory is hazy, I couldn't remember the title until an internet search a few years ago. I remember the Catholic boy and Jewish girl, how they ran away, and how she nearly drowns, and I particulary remember the priest and rabbi talking as old friends near the end. Am I right about all this? Anyways, I'm wondering if this movie had a particular scene with such a line as the following, its possible that I'm bluring my memory with another movie here...

The line goes something like...

"Love is stronger (or more powerful) than anything (or everything) ...even God."

Isn't this what the two children conclude before they run away?

Thanks,

Yes, almost right! Michael and Rachel, the 2 children in the film, become blood brothers by pricking their fingers and mixing the blood together. This bond is what they conclude is more powerful than God. This gives them the courage to visit each other's house of worship. There's a great scene where Rachel (the Jewish girl) is staring at a statue of the Virgin Mother, as is convinced Mary is smiling at her! She knows then she'll be ok.

I have loved this film since I was a child and saw it on the CBS Children's Film Festival hosted by Kukla, Fran, and Ollie!
