Where is the talented Loretta Parry?

Like others listed here, I have remembered for a long time the impact this movie had on me when I first saw it in the late 60's. Unfortunately, because I was so young then, I couldn't recall the name or enough info about the movie to track it down. Just found it while channel surfing on TV and was absolutely delighted. I was raised in a Catholic home, and 20 years after seeing the movie married my beautiful wife; a Jewish woman. I can only speculate that Hand in Hand had some subconscious effect on my choice for marriage. When watching the movie recently as an adult, I was struck by how engaging Loretta Parry's performance was, and how she really had such great screen presence. Other posts here say that Loretta contributed a post as well, but I was not able to find it. If Loretta happens to read this, please do let me know if you stayed in the theatre or film. And, if you can, please do share with us any memories you may have from the production of the film. Most importantly however, thank you for your contributions to the creation of such a wonderful film that clearly had a positive impact on so many people.

I am so thrilled to read the lovely comments on this little film. the reason being, I was the little girl who played Rachel all those years ago. I am now a middle aged lady with three grown children of my own. I live quietly, but busily. My children may be grown, but they always seem to need me. I am very lucky. What a privilege to have read such heartwarming comments,I didn't think anyone remembered. My family have seen stills of various films I was in, but have never been able to show them Hand in Hand, which I have to admit, was my favourite. I would love them to see it, it could still be relevant today. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Your kind words really mean a lot to me.

I never did see "Hand in Hand" as a kid like so many others who have posted on the board. I came across the movie while channel surfing late at night recently. I thought it was a beautiful movie and wish there were more movies like this in our day and age. I hope that it will become available on DVD.

I, too, grew up loving this film! Thanks to the Kukla, Fran, and Ollie program, and the CBS Children's Film Festival, I enjoyed this movie every time it was on. Do you have e-mail addresses for Loretta Parry and Philip Needs? I would love to be able to tel them both how much this now 46 year old woman loves their movie, and how I've carried it in my heart all the years. I'm new to message boards, but you can e-mail me at [email protected]

Thank you,
Janine

]Hi , I don't know anything about lorreta's later life, but I went to school with her from around 1957 until around 1962.

The. Name of the school was Geneva House School, shoot up hill , cricklewood middx.

lots of small part actor type kids went to this school, and although Loretta was I think, a couple of years older than me,

It was sincerely love at first sight for me too (even though I had no idea at the time what these feelings actually were)

We were quite close at times, and quite often I would walk home from school with her , leaving her at Quex road on Kilburn high street
She lived at 36 Sidneybold court West End Lane. Which were a stylish block of flats at the top of Quex Road.every now and then she would say I want to whisper to you and I would know she wanted to kiss me ( on the ear)! But that was enough to make me really miss her when she was not at school and this seemed to be quite a lot of the time.

We all knew she was in films because my mum used to take us to see some of these in the school holidays.

I never forgot her even though my life has been very happy and quite eventful.

The funny thing was I think she was Jewish and actually I came from a big Irish Family living in Kilburn Park.

I remember always wanting her to walk all the way home with me, but I guess she knew that Kilburn Park was a bit rough, so she would always stop at around Brondesbury rd , say goodbye and off she soul go..

Probably no one will ever read this but I feel good just laying these words down.. I have never forgotten her and her cuteness!!!

Sincerely Steve Nolan
