'Hand in hand' 1960 movie

Does anyone known how or where to obtain a DVD/video of the 1960 movie "Hand in hand" which played the other night on TBN? I have looked at Amazon and Ebay with no luck. I tried a website mentioned in one of the "strings" on this site but had no luck getting access to it. It was called movietime.com or something like that. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! email: [email protected]

TBN seems to be playing it quite often - this was reportedly the third time since February it has aired. So if I were you I would just watch the "movie" slots on TBN and wait for them to rebroadcast it because I don't think it's ever been legally released on VHS or DVD in the states and if somebody claims to be selling it they may be just going to take your money. I do wish TBN wouldn't show it so often so close together because they probably will "burn out" on it and then never show it again.

Yes, thanks for the reply. Sounds like the best idea, I'll get my VCR tape ready. I had the same experience as many others on the message board. I had seen it probably 35 years ago on the Kukla, Fran and Ollie Saturday program. Its funny because I could have sworn that the little girl did actually die at the end of the movie. So I was glad I stayed up to watch the ending. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for link to next airing of "Hand in Hand" - but when I suddenly saw a TBN listing for it here in NYC via Time Warner cable back in May, I believe, and turned to TBN at the scheduled time, a long fund raiser was going on instead in its place! Too bad! This is such a moving film and I'm one of the (now 47 year old) kids who was so touched by it so long ago, on a Saturday morning as part of the CBS Children's Film Festival. I was starting to think I'd dreamt it up! Would love to know who to pester for a quality DVD release. But I'll cross my fingers for one of the dates in the July listings. Again, thanks for the heads up on this charming film.

I happened on this airing last evening (or early this morning) by flipping channels. The was probably already 10-15 min. into the movie at that point and although I have not seen it since I was a child in the 60s (Saturday morning Childrens Film Festival) I immediately could tell it was the same movie! I have wondered about this movie for years; so glad to finally know the title and see it through to the end. When we (cousins and I) first watched it, we questioned our parents, who were conversing in another room and unaware of what we were watching, what was meant by "you killed Christ!" They said we were too young to understand (not!) and made us turn off the TV and go outside to play. Finally some 40+ years later I am able to quell the thirst to see this movie that impacted me so as a child. I do hope it comes on DVD soon.

Hello:

A quality print of this film can be ordered from MOVIELEAD Telephone # is 1-866-741-8714.

Or, go to their website: http://www.movielead.com/

I believe the copy comes from an original 16mm film.

What kind of a print would this be? Would it be 16 mm as well, or something I could view on my DVD player? Would I need to try to talk my local movie theatre with a 16 mm projector into playing it? Thanks for the information, as I'd really like to see this again. Others mentioned watching it on TBN and I don't know what channel that is on or how to access it, either.

Ah, but I was so much older then; I’m younger than that now.

I just got a copy of Hand in Hand this week. I was pleased to find out they finally came out with this sweet movie last year. I remember seeing this movie as a child back in the 1960s. it has been ages since i have seen it. Glad I got the chance to get a dvd of this gem of a movie.

I seem to have seen this film several times when I was a boy, and it opened for drive-in triple features. Wasn't there a dramatic scene in "Hand In Hand" where the boy and girl, boating on a canal, drift past a "Danger" sign and something terrible happens? I seem to have that image in my mind about this old film. Thanks for any details.

reply

Yes, that's the climax of the film although the boy has incorrectly thought the little girl had died .
