I agree. It is a great movie with great actors. The song you mentioned is great. It is shown regularly on tv and is well worth seeing. I remember when it first came out and it was a treat to see it on the big screen. The fight scene especially between the Ladd's men and the town is great and hilarious.
Not to be missed. Ladd is very good and Gilbert Roland does a fantastic performance as Ladd's partner.

"THANKS BERT!!!" =)

LMAO THAT SCENE IS FUNNY AS HELL!

Let me get this straight: they made the bad guy in the book the hero of the movie?!!!
Somebody should remake this movie the way it was written. They could actually do all the fight scenes now. They would have been pretty raw back then probably. For instance, when the logger beats the cowboys up and then jumps on him with both feet.

Frankie Avalon also did a very good performance in this movie.

I agree the book was completely different and had a great western theme with the cowboys as the good guys...

The book was great. I can't believe they just twisted the point of the story around. Private property rights are a big deal and were the linchpin of the movie. Trying to trample those rights and being all-around unscrupulous were what made the timber folks the bad guys.

Why in the world did they bother with the book? Sounds like they ignored it.

It's a solid western. I liked the dynamic between Ladd and Crain. I thought the townsfolk were complete jerkasses from the start. But they did seem to realize that at the end.
