What were the 3 worlds?

There was the land of Lilliput and the land of the Giants. Unless the 3rd that they were referring to was England. I was hoping that one of the other 2, was the third.

The three worlds were Lilliput, Brobdinag (the giants' world, and Gulliver's own world.

reply

In the book there was a third with intelligent horses, but that one always gets forgotten.

Merry Christmas ya filthy animal.

There were actually 4 worlds-Lilliput, Brondignag, a flying city (Laputa I think) and the land of the yahoos and talking horses. The first 2 are the more remembered ones I think. I originally had a book that only includes the first 2 worlds he visited.

reply

The 4th one is called Houyhnhnms (the land with the Talking Horses and Yahoos)

Scifi goes back further than that Bertie. The tales of Gilgamesh have strains of science fiction.

You've forgotten the floating island of Laputa ... the land of intellectuals and philosophers.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

I couldn't quite gather which the third world was supposed to be in the movie. I think that Swift's other two worlds would have been too difficult to achieve in a live action film. But I like to see them attempted on screen in animation.

I was very pleased with the TV miniseries starring Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen! They did a wonderful job in presenting all of the places he visited during his adventures.

For once, it wasn't aimed at children, so they could be much more accurate.

The three worlds are Liliput, the tiny people. Then there's the land of the people who were the mortal enemies of the Liliputians; I forget the name. Gulliver didn't spend much time there but he did go there and steal their ships which supposedly ended the war with Liliput. It's also the place to which the first tiny couple they met were fleeing along with her father.

The last was the land of the giant people where the girl found him and he reunited with his girlfriend. I didn't like the movie so I don't remember many details like names. That's a good thing so I won't look them up either. I hoped reading other people's comments after the fact might have increased my curiosity and interest but that hasn't happened. I just hate it more.
