Really like the movie but the constant chorus/choir with the heavy religious overtones was really heaping on the sentiment. I'm not sure any, *beep* command, like it seems Halsey was, would want to be deified like that. I was waiting for Heston or Victor Mature to suddenly appear in a robe or loin cloth lol!
This movie is a good companion piece to In Harms Way.
The chorus was way, way overdone, throughout the movie. Same with the narration.
shareIt seems that was very popular at the time. Been watching some Classic TV Westerns..."Adventures of Jim Bowie" made around the same time as this movie uses the same sounding Choir.
I am not too crazy about it either, but it is better than some of the Jazz Scores they messed with around the same time.

It pretty much ruined the film ... but check out the trivia page ... you will see there was a musicians strike at the time that lead to the choral background. They should have waited for the strike to end.
