New Genre?

IMDb lists the film under "Drama", and I suppose it's a "Melodrama" as well. The lush, technicolor films of the 50s through the mid-60s featuring fabulous wealth, beautiful people and clothes, and of course sex - in and out of marriage - should warrant a genre all their own...I propose Film Riche.

I like it. But I propose that the genre goes back to the 1930s (in black-and-white), in movies where beautiful people in beautiful clothes were depicted in their fabulous mansions. They're sometimes called "white telephone" pictures, because the beautiful people always have white telephones.

OMG those backless gowns the women used to wear! Myrna Loy in The Thin Man series is a prime example. Just gorgeous, with her perfect back totally exposed.
