Jewish Religious Customs

I was surprised by something when seeing Exodus this afternoon in the scene where the Arab friend and the young girl Karen are buried. Paul Newman's character says a eulogy for them both at their common grave. Yet he does not have the assembled mourners, all fellow kibbutznik friends of Karen's say Kaddish. It would have been a moving scene, especially since most of the survivors may not have said Kaddish for their families, certainly lost in the concentration camps.

That would have been good. But many people watching would not know what was going on unless it were explained in detail. It would also have been good for them to say whatever Muslim prayer is appropriate at such a time (assuming Taha was Muslim ... some Arabs are Christians). I don't know what would be right for a Muslim (or an Arab Christian, for that matter).
