Well Above Average

I´m glad you liked it. It´s my favorite vampire film, and my second favorite horror film of all time. Beautifully shot and written, with interesting, likeable characters wonderfully played by the amazing cast. The film perfectly balanced the intense Gothic atmosphere with romantic lyricism and eroticized poetry of LaFanu´s work. Another highlight is Jean Prodomides´ score, which might as well be the most hauntingly beautiful in a genre film ever. It´s a pity the film doesn´t get half the recognition it deserves, while the same year´s "Black Sunday", which shamefully ripped off this one gets more than it´s share of praise (don´t get me wrong, Bava is my favorite horror director, but "Sunday" is his most overrated work, and sadly overshadows most of his other, superior films).
