This is as much a parody as Airplane any day.

The conventional wisdom is that this movie was bad and Airplane made it funny?
No, this movie is over the moon funny.
Yes, it meant to be.

Airplane uses a lot more from the plot of "Zero Hour" than "Crowded Sky" for parody. The close-up while a character thinks is a major contribution from this movie. Dana Andrews plays a pilot in "Zero Hour" too, he is the passenger forced to fly the plane when the crew gets sick. Actor Sterling Hayden picked the wrong day to quit smoking. I loved that movie as a child and now I can't watch it with a straight face.

I didn't find this movie funny. I don't think it was meant to be either. I think it was pretty bad. The sound was horrible. The entire movie seemed to be dubbed after the fact. There were many characters I didn't like. I just found it lacking.

If it had been funny that would have been better but it was just a lot of bad acting and forced, contrived stories in my opinion.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

Oh. My. Gosh! This is hilariously awful! I'm laughing at this almost as much as I did with "Airplane!"
